The Darkhad Depression, nestled in northern Mongolia near the Russian border, is a vast, low-lying basin surrounded by mountain ranges. This remote region is characterized by its rugged terrain, dense taiga forests, and numerous lakes and wetlands.
It serves as a natural refuge for the Darkhad people, a proud nomadic group with a deep spiritual connection to the land. The depression’s harsh climate and isolation have preserved a unique way of life, where traditional herding, shamanistic practices, and ancient customs continue to thrive amidst the wild, untamed landscape.
