Day 1: Journey to the Orkhon Valley and Nomadic Family Stay

On the first day, we will pick you up in Ulaanbaatar by public bus, depending on availability, and begin our journey to the beautiful Orkhon Valley.

After traveling approximately 520 km, mostly on paved countryside roads, we will arrive at the Orkhon Valley and meet your local nomadic host family. You will stay with the family for the next three days and experience traditional Mongolian hospitality and nomadic life firsthand.

The Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape stretches along the Orkhon River in Central Mongolia and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area represents more than two thousand years of nomadic pastoral traditions and is one of Mongolia's most important cultural and natural landscapes.

 You will also stay in a traditional Mongolian ger prepared especially for visitors, allowing you to experience life with a nomadic family.

Please note that most of Day 1 will be spent traveling by car or bus due to the long distance and rough countryside roads.

On this day, you will experience Mongolia on horseback like a true nomad, accompanied by a genuine local nomadic horse guide. You will ride through the beautiful landscapes of the Orkhon Valley and explore its waterfalls, historic monuments, forests, rivers, and open countryside on horseback.

This is an authentic opportunity to experience traditional Mongolian horse riding while traveling through areas that are difficult to reach by vehicle. Your local horse guide will help you with the horses and guide you along the route.

During the day, we will stop in the wilderness for a picnic-style lunch surrounded by nature. In the evening, you will return to the nomadic family we work with and enjoy a traditional dinner and Mongolian hospitality.

Horse riding: Approximately 4–5 hours, depending on your riding experience, horse speed, and trail conditions.

On Day 3, we will continue exploring the beautiful Orkhon Valley on horseback with your local nomadic horse guide. We will leave the main tourist areas behind and ride deeper into the surrounding countryside, where vast grasslands, forests, rivers, valleys, and mountains create the authentic landscape of Central Mongolia.

Along the way, we will stop at scenic viewpoints and peaceful locations where you can take photos, rest, and enjoy the surrounding nature. Depending on the route and weather conditions, we may also visit local historical sites, small valleys, rivers, and other interesting places around the Orkhon Valley.

Lunch will be enjoyed along the route, surrounded by nature. In the evening, we will return to the nomadic family and enjoy a traditional dinner before spending another night in a Mongolian ger.

Day 4 is another full day of exploration around the Orkhon Valley. We will continue our horseback journey through the peaceful Mongolian countryside, following local trails through open steppe, rolling hills, forests, and river valleys.

This day is designed to be flexible and relaxed, allowing us to explore the surrounding area at a comfortable pace. Your local nomadic horse guide will choose suitable routes based on weather, trail conditions, and your riding ability.

We will have plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy the scenery, take photographs, observe local wildlife, and experience the quietness of the Mongolian wilderness. Lunch will be served outdoors during the journey, followed by more horseback exploration before returning to the nomadic family in the evening.

After dinner, you will spend your final night in the Orkhon Valley in a traditional ger and enjoy one more evening surrounded by Mongolian nomadic life.

After breakfast, we will say goodbye to your nomadic host family and begin our journey back to Ulaanbaatar.

Before leaving the Orkhon Valley, there will be some time to enjoy the surrounding landscape and take final photographs. We will then travel back through the Mongolian countryside, following mostly unpaved roads before reaching the main roads toward the capital.

The journey back is a great opportunity to reflect on the past few days and enjoy the changing scenery of Central Mongolia. Depending on road and traffic conditions, we expect to arrive in Ulaanbaatar in the late afternoon or evening.
